Find a group that's right for you
Simply put, life is better when we're connected. We were never meant to go through life alone. We'd love to help you find a LIFE|group where you can connect with a smaller group of people, grow deeper relationships, and truly be known.
Here’s how you can join a group.
- Explore our LIFE|group map below. You can see all our groups online so you to choose the one that best fits you and your schedule.
- Select the group(s) you're interested in. Click the button below to tell us which group(s) you're interested in, and those LIFE|group leaders will reach out to you in the next week to answer any of your questions and see if it's a good fit.
- Meet your group. You'll never really know if a group is a good fit for you unless you check it out! We encourage everyone to try a group out (or several). There's no hard feelings if it's not the right fit. We'll continue to help you until you find your fit!
What is the purpose of LIFE|groups?
We are--at the core of our being--designed for relationship. God designed us to be known and to know others. We believe that life transformation happens in community, not in isolation. But unfortunately, the world we live in can make it extraordinarily difficult to have real, deep relationships with other human beings. This is why we at Rock Creek Church place great emphasis on participating in a LIFE|group, because we need each other, and we are needed by each other. We intentionally seek to create smaller groups of community within our church body where we can truly be known, know others, and follow Jesus together.
Have you ever noticed that a high percentage of the commands in the New Testament given followers of Jesus can only be successfully obeyed in community? Think about it. We’re told to....
... love one another (John 13:34 - This command occurs at least 16 times)
... be devoted to one another (Romans 12:10)
... forgive one another (Ephesians 4:2, 32; Colossians 3:13)
... pray for one another (James 5:16)
... confess our sins to one another (James 5:16)
... encourage one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
... exhort one another (Hebrews 3:13)
... honor one another (Romans 12:10)
... bear with one another (Colossians 3:13)
... Live in harmony with one another (Romans 12:16)
... Build up one another (Romans 14:19; 1 Thessalonians 5:11)
... Admonish one another (Romans 15:14; Colossians 3:16)
... Care for one another (1 Corinthians 12:25)
... Serve one another (Galatians 5:13)
... Bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2)
... Be patient with one another (Ephesians 4:2; Colossians 3:13)
... Be kind and compassionate to one another (Ephesians 4:32)
... Submit to one another (Ephesians 5:21, 1 Peter 5:5)
... Look to the interests of one another (Philippians 2:4)
... Teach one another (Colossians 3:16)
... Comfort one another (1 Thessalonians 4:18)
... Show hospitality to one another (1 Peter 4:9)
Do you see a pattern? Not only do we believe it’s better to be in community, we would argue that it’s impossible to follow Jesus without it!
We have intentionally designed LIFE|groups at Rock Creek Church to be for EVERYONE. In fact, we would say that LIFE|groups are the primary vehicle for making disciples at Rock Creek Church. Whether you're a regular attendee, occasional visitor, a friend or neighbor, we invite you to check out our existing LIFE|groups or consider becoming a LIFE|group leader.
What are LIFE|groups at Rock Creek Church like?
Nearly 90% of those who call Rock Creek Church home are experiencing community through LIFE|groups! LIFE|groups create deeper community connection and create an opportunity to take the next step in your walk with God. As a LIFE|group you share in the joys, struggles, and realness of life as you learn from, lean on, provide care for, and serve together.
This is how we do it. We…
LIFE|groups typically meet twice a month in a home and are oriented around hanging out, catching up on life, and enjoying a meal or dessert together.
We always strive to grow, whether it be personally, spiritually, relationally, or even professionally! No matter if you're a long time follower of Jesus or someone who is still exploring what that means, our LIFE|groups provide a safe and loving environment to explore, ask questions, and grow together.
Our LIFE|groups also stress the importance to give back to the community around us--together. We love others because Jesus first loved us. We serve others because Jesus first served us. Our world has a lot of hurt in it. We want to bring some light to the darkness, and believe that is best done together.
